About Essex Mediation

We are a well established organisation providing services for families and couples at any stage of breakdown or conflict. We are experienced in meeting the needs of our clients by helping them deal with the practical and emotional impact on the individual and the family. Our main offices are in Chelmsford, Colchester and Harlow; however appointments in other locations can be offered by arrangement.

Our qualified team of professional mediators have many years experience and are members of the UK College of Family Mediators, National Family Mediation, Family Mediators Association, Family Mediation Council and work to their agreed code of practice. We have been awarded a Legal Aid franchise by the Legal Services Commission for family mediation. This means we have obtained recognised standards in the delivery of our services and receive public funding for clients who qualify. These clients pay no fees for our services.

Our approach focuses on your individual situation and with the help and guidance of our experts, mediation enables you to reach decisions about your future. We understand how stressful your situation may be and it is our aim to minimise this.

Meet the team

	HAZEL SKELTON Mediator and Practice Consultant Supervisor Hazel Skelton trained as a mediator in 2000 and qualified as Practice Consultant and Supervisor in 2004 - she has been with Essex Mediation since their inception in 2001. Previously Hazel worked in Family Law for some twelve years and is experienced in Child and Family Law. Hazel also works in a voluntary capacity as a CAP Money Coach. Hazel is married with two teenage children.
	LOUISE HORNAGOLD Managing Director Louise Hornagold joined Essex Mediation in 2006 as Head of Service and became Managing Director in April 2008. Louise has a vast spectrum of business knowledge which she gained whilst working in various senior managerial roles within the financial sector.
	ALISON SMITH Business Operations and Development Director Alison Smith worked in senior management within the City of London for many years prior to joining Essex Mediation in 2007 in the role of Business Operations and Development Director.
	ELAINE GREEN Mediator Elaine Green has worked as a qualified family mediator with Essex Mediation since 2002 and is a member of the College of Mediators. Elaine is also fully trained to carry out Direct Consultation with Children. In addition to her mediation work, Elaine worked for many years as a Debt Specialist for the Citizens Advice Bureau, and so has a wide experience of working with people in difficult situations.
	CHRISTINE CAMP Mediator and Deputy Practice Consultant Supervisor Christine completed her professional training with Essex Mediation and qualified as a family mediator in 2005. Christine has a business background in the financial services industry and is also experienced in resolving employment disputes. Christine also has experience of working with other mediation services and is a member of the Family Mediators Association. Christine is married with two teenage children.
	SUE NELSON Mediator Sue Nelson joined Essex Mediation in 2003 and qualified as a family mediator the following year. Having worked for many years in the property business as a Chartered Surveyor and also for a number of local charities Sue has considerable experience in all matters relating to property as well as associated negotiation skills.
	GILLY CUNNINGHAM Mediator Gilly Cunningham worked as a family lawyer for over twenty years, before retraining as a mediator. She is also a trained bereavement counsellor and couple counsellor, but for the last 15 years has spent most of her professional life as a family mediator. She has a particular interest in reconstituted families having personal experience of life in a step family. She is married with two grown up children. Gilly is a member of The College of Family Mediators and the Family Mediation Association.
	GLYNNE DAVIES Mediator and Practice Consultant Supervisor Glynne has been a dedicated and comitted family mediator since 2003 and qualified as a PPC in early 2009. A former member of the Professional Standards Committee and UK College of Family Mediators, Glynne also represented the College of Mediators on the Professional Training and Standards Committee of the Family Mediation Council. A resident of Harlow, Glynne maintains strong links with the community and is currently a Board Member of the Harlow College Student Memorial Trust.
	TINA SCHREIBER Mediator Tina qualified as a family mediator in 2004 and is able to deal with property, finance and children issues including direct consultation with children. She has also trained to carry out parenting courses for separated parents. In addition to her mediation work, Tina is a generalist advisor with the Citizens Advice Bureau and is fully experienced in welfare benefits and employment matters.
	ANN ROONEY Mediator Ann trained as a family mediator in 2003, having previously worked as a family lawyer for many years. She holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Studies and is presently studying for a Masters degree in this subject. Ann is a qualified Practice Consultant and Supervisor.
